Foudroyant adj.

1. Dazzling; stunning.

This word comes from the French, and it means “to strike with lightning.” It brought me to the definition of dazzling, because I’ve always thought of this word describing something ostentatiously. What I found is “to impress deeply, to astonish with delight.”

It goes without saying that this applies to the senses, the things we can see, touch, hear, or even taste. But I like the idea of expanding this to the intensity of living life. To live your life in a foudroyant way sounds pretty remarkable. So that’s exactly what I intend to do: live life with the goal of astonishing with delight and impressing others deeply. I will be wary of showing this in a shallow, charismatic way, and will strive to be foudroyant in personality while making meaningful and lasting connections with those around me.
